Lame Thinking

In the world that we all live in there is a lot of good thinking. Early on man invented the wheel. About that time, he learned to cook his food for better taste & to kill germs, etc. He learned to ride a mule or horse to save wear & tear on his own legs. There has been lots of good thinking in man’s history, & the U.S. constitution & free enterprise principles are most brilliant, but here are some lame strokes:
--  Predicting rain in AZ is usually lame thinking . . .
--  It’s lame to believe you can become an astronaut because one such character said you could do/be “anything you            want.” While optimism & encouragement is good, we all have limits – only God is unlimited . . .
--  It’s lame to think all folks of one ethnic group are bad because one in particular appears to be.
--  “Putting a computer chip in all things is the way to go.” That’s pure lame thinking – some things are best left alone.          In Japan they have even computerized the toilet seat & have a console beside it.
--  How about the man who gets in a sleeping bag with 24 live rattlesnakes? Wouldn’t that be “lame thinking?”  See link        61 “Obsessions.”
--  Judging a book (or person) by its cover is classic L.T., but all too common.
--  It’s lame thinking for a young preacher to bash the work of an older one, not knowing (or caring) where & what the        older one has seen & been through. See link 52 “The Game.”
--  Having numerous degrees makes one more capable of good thinking. This may be true, but why did the most                    educated of the nation of Israel condemn Christ to death, when they KNEW He had replaced blind eyes, walked on        water, raised the dead, etc.??  Lame thinking by committee.
--  To put the care of one’s eternal soul in the hands of atheists such as C. Darwin & Steve Hawking is lame thinking.            Heaven is too long & hell is too hot to accept their anti-Christ, (anti Bible, anti-Creation, anti-Gospel, etc.), thinking        without studying the Book carefully for oneself.
--  Considering Jesus Christ to be just “an iconic character” is close to lame thinking. Jesus is either God in the flesh         as he claimed (John 14:7-9) or he was a lunatic – God didn’t give any middle ground on this . . .
Well it’s a sure thing I have done my share of L.T. in my days. But at the age of 20 I made a resolution to study the Book thoroughly to see if it was really special or “Holy” as such. I knew it was often used as a door stop or placed in the back of some cabinet or closet. It seemed to deserve better if God prepared it (which 2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12  clearly states.) If the world is so loaded with L.T., maybe God’s book would reveal some good thinking. Good thinking was only the beginning. I also found a goldmine of history, drama, man reasoning w/God, God reasoning w/man (Genesis 18:22-33, Job 40 &41), good & bad character traits, God’s humor in the miraculous, the justice & judgment of God, the reason for life (Acts 17:26), then God revealed as a man in Jesus Christ.  Nothing could be more amazing in a world full of “lame thinking.”
Here’s a few “thoughts from above” which may fit this essay:
--  Psalms 1:1 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor      sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” KJV (All of Psalms 1 is Bible Truth 101).
--  Jeremiah 2:13 “for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and            hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” (the root of L.T.)
--  Mark 8:38 “For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the          Son of man also be ashamed, . . .” Jesus said that.
--  Romans 1:28 “And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper          conduct.” (Today’s liberals & academia??)
--  2 Corinthians 11:3 “I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray            from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.”
--  2 John 9 “Whoever goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the      doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.”
I know people think & believe whatever they want, but it would seem best to minimize “lame thinking.” Maximize good thinking & be blessed, for time AND eternity. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 Choose Jesus, He is Alive.
