THE KAMIKAZE COWBOY *
The two characters above should be well known. The Kamikaze was a Japanese pilot of late WWII who was trained to fly small airplanes with a big bomb into U.S. ships. My wife and I have been to Kagoshima Japan where the famous Kamikaze’s are from. Then the cowboy is a character who loves the horse and makes it a part of his lifestyle. We live in the Verde Valley of Arizona which has some cowboys for sure. One owns a rodeo arena & manages his concrete Redi-Mix company having six or so full-size C. trucks - Randy even drives (class act).
We recently met the combination of the two characters above. George Kamiawa is a Japanese musician of rare multi-instrument talent, living & performing in Australia of all places. His "country" style stage show revealed the kind of originality, focus, outrageous presence, determination, sense of humor, and precision that wins the title of "Kamikaze Cowboy."
Well as a Bible student for over 45 years I see some characters in the Book who romp & stomp & impress me the same way. (Hopefully using the K. C. label above for them is not blasphemous.)
-- Moses - What a glaring example of God's presence with a human all the way to fulfillment of the Divine will & purpose. Exodus thru Deuteronomy – about 140 pages of premium Old Testament miracles AND Divine dictation.
-- David the shepherd/king and of course Elijah. Elijah is unique in that he didn't experience physical death but was taken out in a “flaming chariot.” 2 Kings 2
-- Isaiah was a statesman & prophet so rare he wrote with precision much of the Gospel of Christ 700 years before Christ appeared in the flesh. See Isaiah chapters 53 & 55.
** Jesus was a Biblical "Kamikaze Cowboy" of the RAREST order. On His suicide mission he was Bold as a Lion, speaking to THOUSANDS at a time, walking on water, raising the dead, challenging established tradition, etc. How about His willing execution for the benefit of others? The "cowboy" with pistols on his belt? He said to his adversaries, "you will die in your sins unless you believe I am He" John 8:24
-- The Apostle Paul - This guy had focus & determination that caught even God's attention (see Acts 9). He was overcome & knocked senseless by a Divine encounter & change that resulted in lots of miracles, and intellectually defining MUCH of Christ's mission & purpose. About one third of the New Testament came to us thru Paul.
When I think of the fascinating Book that has been given to us by writers like those above, AND my own experience with Christ's salvation for over 45 years, I wonder if the nature & character of God Himself isn't close to the title of this Gospel-note. I truly see originality, focus, outrageous presence, determination, precision, and even humor between the covers of the Bible. The true God is certainly not a casual character, and His Book is not a casual book.
For those who believe and give its Gospel message a chance (or a try), it is the Answer to this crazy and hard world. "O taste & see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man who trusteth in Him." Psalm 34:8. KJV And as we walk with the Lord thru His Book & world, we begin to realize what kind of Amazing Person our Biblical God is and always was. Then the Second Coming of Christ to cleanse & judge sin at all levels will truly be a "Kamikaze Cowboy" operation evident to all & "outrageous". This world of intellectual denial & false religions won't stand a chance. Choose Jesus, He is Alive . . . See also "The Names of Christ" link 46 for more insight into the character of the Lord.
