Types Of Power

        It's amazing how many types of power are out there. From the beginning of time man has discovered:
--  Muscle power - the body has 640 muscles which work together to give the human power to walk, run and work.
--  Mind power - "work smarter not harder" they say.
--  Animal power - plowing with an ox was a better proposition than pick & shovel.  And the horse was made to ride . . .
--  The power of the flame - it didn't take long for early man to learn that cooked meat tastes better. . .
--  Steam power - when James Watt in 1781 patented the steam engine, ships and locomotives entered a new era.
--  Wind power - tornadoes & hurricanes are destructive, but the windmill enabled man to gain mechanical advantage        from the wind.
--  Pneumatic & hydraulic power - the modern world would be paralyzed without P. & H. power.
--  The power from oil & gasoline - how many cars, trucks, trains, ships, and aircraft are powered by oil & gas?
--  Electricity is a magic kind of power - understood by few but used by all. . .
--  The power of the atom - fine & good unless we vaporize half the earth & three quarters of its population by a              nuclear war.
       The power of God - this type of power is in a totally different (and higher) category. Many today prefer to focus on the sum total of the above 10 power types and leave God out. Yes, we live in a secular age. A couple hundred years ago God was more a part of the power picture. Are we wiser now that God is a second-class citizen & most people are blind to His power?
      The power of God is revealed and explained in the Bible from cover to cover. We see the early events & development & key characters like Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah, etc. Of course, Jesus Christ brought the power of God into a whole new era. He explained divine principles in great detail; and demonstrated amazing spiritual power throughout his active 3 years of ministry. It's baffling to me that folks could witness Christ's miracles & immediately deny what they saw - they were stunned by the dimension of power they couldn't understand. Mark 3:1-6, 22 The next Biblical era of the power of God was an outpouring of the Holy Spirit we see in Acts chapter 2. That event has baffled the whole world's secular & religious communities - then and now. But it has been God's Endorsement of the New Covenant, and the Christian church.
      I think the problem with God's power is that some folks will not see it unless they are looking for it. In fact, something may block the human grasp of spiritual power if people deny & contradict in unbelief, as is common today. Hello liberal thought . . . I have personally known even clergy people who are against God’s power & even the resurrection of Christ. Believing those Biblical events & miracles are embarrassing to them. And that is the problem today with experiencing & understanding God's power. Without faith & believing we are blind to it, which makes God's blessing & eternal life more like a silly myth.  And it's sad for people to live & die with that mindset, because according to Jesus Christ they are lost and will gravitate into that over-crowded city called hell.  See "Crowded Cities" link 5.
--  "In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light        of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:4
--  "And without faith it is impossible to please Him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists      and that He rewards those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
--  ". . .thou has hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes;" Matthew 11:25b
--  "But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, he gave power to become children of God;” John 1:12
--  "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; . . ." Acts 1:8
--  "You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart,” Jeremiah 29:13
      Touching the power of God is a life changer for millions. I "gave it a shot" over 45 years ago to learn that my eyes were opened to God's truth, presence, & mysterious POWER. It can happen to YOU. Touching God can & will put all things in a new light, especially eternal life. Choose Jesus, He is Alive. See also "Faith" link 75.
