Unholy Cats

Unholy cats wrangle at night & come between you & peaceful sleep. When we were in Oklahoma the “unholy cats” would raise hell right outside our bedroom window. Once I ran out the side door grabbing a boot which worked well to quiet the fuss. In the morning when fetching my flying boot, there were scraps of fur pieces where the cats had been tearing each other apart. On another level of thought, there appears to be “unholy cats” that come between us and peace with God. Below are some insights on the problem of SIN.
-- Five great enemies to peace inhabit within us: viz., avarice, ambition, envy, anger, and pride.        If those enemies (unholy cats) were to be banished, we should infallibly enjoy perpetual              peace.  Francesco Petrarca 1350, Italian poet.
-- The seven sins are wealth without works, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without            character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, worship without sacrifice,        and politics without principal. Mahatma Gandhi
-- Sin is first pleasing, then it grows easy, then delightful, then frequent, then habitual, then          confirmed; then the man is impenitent, then he is obstinate, then he is resolved never to              repent, and then he is ruined. Robert Leighton
According to the Book, sin (unholy cats) do keep us from peace with God:
-- “Are the consolations of God small with thee: Is there any secret thing with thee?” Job 15:11
-- “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me;” Psalm 66:18
-- “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes              them will obtain mercy.” Proverbs 28:13
-- “Those who regard worthless idols, forsake their own mercy.” Jonah 2:8 (Jonah is an amazing      piece of Scripture – besides the big fish story which blocks many folks from reading it, it            has concepts of faith beyond many other Old Testament books.)
Now this Gospel-note has considered un-holy cats. So logically it would imply that there are holy cats too. But I know of none, EXCEPT Jesus Christ, who is actually a LION – “the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered . . .” Revelation 5:15 A lot of thinkers question whether J. C. really did conquer at all. After all, He was executed with criminals . . . BUT when we consider that Christ was/is mentioned as a person hundreds & thousands of years before He was born, then at his birth announced by angels. “. . . and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21. Then of course the miracles & brave death & resurrection of Christ. Then how Christ has become the story of history from A.D. 1, it is clear we are dealing with a LION. See link 7 “I Saw The King.” From the moment of my glimpse of Christ, I was impressed with His majesty & bearing like a “lion.”
Well as I reflect on the “unholy cats” of this world, and how they can keep us from peace with God, it is just too sad. So many young people want their sin & to associate with the aggressor, but miss the fact that Christ is a “lion” – just usually a friendly & patient one. And there is a symbolic “clip” of the believer in Christ in Isaiah 11:7, where the tamed lion is symbolical of the natural man subdued by grace & salvation. (Unger) Let’s not allow our sin (unholy cats) to ruin our peace with God, and His blessing. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him & eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 Choose Jesus, He is alive.
