Who Can You Trust?
The question above is a valid one and it’s pondered by many. Webster defines trust as, “firm belief or confidence in the honesty, integrity, reliability, justice, etc. of another person or thing.” Well after more than 50 years of life experience I have much discouragement.
First, can you trust yourself? Most honest souls will say no. How about close family members. Not always - remember, the first family in this world, one brother killed the other (Cain & Able). How about the doctor? Those characters are considered professional, but they have “stepped on the oath” too many times. (The whole U.S. medical/pharmaceutical industry appears to be mainly about money). How about the realtor? Too often truth is lacking here for sure. Salesmen of all kinds have a reputation for stretching and/or hiding truth. The investment adviser? No - they have been known to tell more lies than some politicians, and not be accountable for one thing they say. How about the schoolteacher: These days they sometimes seduce their pupils. What about commercial pilots. Chasing stewardesses & sometimes flying intoxicated - God help those who fly . . . Well preachers should be a truthful & trust able lot. Jim Jones of Guiana & his 900 plus dead followers scattered all over the ground comes to mind. I have personally known well about 20 preachers & two I strongly believe were demon possessed impostors - at least judging by their liberal theology & psychotic actions. That’s 10 percent false in a class that should be 99% true. My observation or conclusion is that it’s hard to trust anyone, because this earth is truly the PLANET of LIES. (And greed, and misfits, etc.)
It is interesting that the Bible says, “God is not a man that he should lie, or the son of man that he should repent.” Numbers 23:19 A lot of people stay away from God because He is so righteous, but these days we need to see something or someone with GOOD character. And He is a refreshing oasis of STELLAR goodness & power. So besides being Holy, (pure & sinless) what is God like? Eternity is beyond time - He lives there. Life is an invention of God. Immutable is not able to change, (unlike us dirt bags, we change every day). Omnipotence - having all power. Omnipresent - all places at the same time. Omniscient - knowing all things. Creation is His business . . . He is the Author of Salvation. He is pleased to give Forgiveness and receive Prayer & Worship from humans. He claims to be the ultimate Judge of individuals & mankind. Amazing enough the person of Jesus Christ laid claim to ALL the above attributes during his ministry on earth. That is equality with God which is beyond awesome.
Who can you trust? I am convinced that we can believe & trust God fully. We may not always be able to trust our own kind, (especially in this age of lies & uncertainty). But the God of the Bible has demonstrated His trustworthiness. Have you connected? If not, why not? God’s salvation in Jesus Christ is available to “whosoever will”. He has proven to be not only honest, but also a personal healer, counselor, protector & friend for millions including myself. “Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud . . ." Psalm 40:4 . . . “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 “Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.” Psalm 2:12 KJV Choose Jesus - He is Alive.
